Mocktails, Cocktails & Prosecco

With the start of Wimbledon and some glorious weather, we love our Sirops, they add decadence to a glass of prosecco, marvelous in mocktails & cocktails, incredible with ice cream and sublime over salads. They really are a treat...

One of our favourite recipes is the Secret Garden Cocktail by Andy Stoneley, ( You'll need is fresh mint, juice of a lime, 50ml of Blackberry Bramble or Blissfully Blackcurrant Sirop, Ginger Ale and ice - muddle the mint & lime juice before adding the sirop and topping with ginger ale - loved by kids and adults can even add a cheeky gin.

Or why not try our new Rhubarb Rhubarb Sirop (so new we still don't have branded labels for it). We love a  Rhubarb Spritzer - add a large dash to a glass and top with chilled Prossecco for some Summer decadence. It's also incredible with panacotta and delicious with slow roast lamb.

this year saw the 20th Abergavenny Food Festival, the nations greatest of all festivals. We had the pleasure of taking our jars of deliciousness ánd the added bonus of being shortlisted for delicious.Magazine's Produce Awards. Judging took place at the festival and we're delighted to announce that our Blissfully Blackcurrant Sirop and Candied Jalapenos have both got through to the final at Borough Market on October.

The ladies of Dschang, Cameroon celebrated International Women's Day with Jam.........I am overwhelmed, Jam really is making a difference, so proud to be part of the Food for Prosperity Project with Carol Adams x

"As everywhere else in the world, the women of Dschang celebrated with pomp the 33rd International Women's Day. They distributed bags containing homemade jams to the city authorities.

The women occupied The Place of Festivities of Dschang Thursday, March 08, 2018, on the occasion of the celebration of the 33rd International Women's Day. The jams offered to the authorities are the consequence of the workshop of transformation and conservation of fruit and vegetables recently given as part of the activities of Dschang Fete Ses 100 Ans – the centenary celebrations of the town of Dschang and Menoua Region.

The activities took place before the Prefect of the Menoua Department, Balungeli Confiance Ebune who was accompanied by his wife, the 4th deputy mayor of Dschang, amongst others.  This celebration was the highlight of a week of festivities, was a great moment of fellowship between woman and man.

In her speech, Njoua Annette, the president of the Network of Associations for Women and Family of Menoua (RAFFEDEM), put the event in context.

"This day comes from the history of feminist struggles on the European and American continents. On February 28, 1909, a day dedicated to women, called National Woman's Day is celebrated in the United States at the call of the US Socialist Party. Following a proposal by Clara Zetkin in August 1910, the Socialist International of Famous Women on March 19, 1911 the first INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN and claims the right to vote of women, the right to work and the end of discrimination at the job. Meetings and events are therefore held every year. It was not until 1977 that the United Nations formalized the day, inviting all countries of the world to celebrate a day for women's rights.”"

24th June - Lisvane Fete, Heol y Delyn, Lisvane, Cardiff.  We're delighted to have been invited as for Angharad, this is going home. Really looking forward to catching up with friends and family and we may even take Maggie the Border Terrier for her first dog/kid show.

Great Taste really does taste GREAT!! May 28, 2017 13:06

This week I had the pleasure of judging the Great Taste Awards along with a veritable crew of passionate foodies from producers to bloggers, writers, buyers, retailers and food critics. Some, like me, were there for the day, others were in for the duration and all delighted to be part of the process.

The Great Taste Awards are organised by the Guild of Fine Food and "are the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink". It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. Quite simply, the Great Taste logo is the sign you can trust when buying food and drink in your local, quality retailer.

I have been entering since 2013 and was invited to judge in Cardiff in 2015, but annoyingly my cancer treatment ruined my tastebuds, so being back to full health and part of the process was even more special this year.

I travelled up with my great friend Bill King, Artisan Baker and on the Tuesday night we were delighted to join the Great Taste team for a tour of our dear friends Halen Mon and their brand new purpose built Salt Cote.They produce the finest sea salt from the tidal water in the Menai Straits in Anglesey and are blessed with incredible views over to Snowdonia.


After a tour and tasting session we were indulged by the delightful Ellis Barrie and Liam of The Marram Grass. Their food was exciting, packed with drama and flavour, producing 4 courses in the tiny Halen Mon staff kitchen. It was a lovely evening, with highlights meeting the brilliantly joyful Sian Lloyd and formidable Charles Campion (actually very lovely).




Wednesday was judging day, greeted by our 2017 Judges badges.


We were allocated judging tables and the business began. I was with the brilliant Nick Crosley who has an incredible palate and the lovely Gay, a journalist and foodie from Dorset. Both took me under their wing and we had the pleasure of trying some incredible products, real shout out loud brilliance!!


In the afternoon I judged with the lovely Fanny, also a food journalist from Dorset and Stephen Stevens from Sosban & The Old Butchery, the smallest Michelin Star Restaurant in the UK and the man with THE best beard!! He is incredible and Fanny & I both agreed that we learned so much from tasting with him. His palate is exquisite, his knowledge of food is immense and no matter how much charm I laid on, his restaurant is fully booked until March 2018.

The whole day was a joy, a pleasure to taste great food, passionately produced all over this fabulous country of ours - to food producers everywhere, I salute you!!!!

On Friday the 2nd December, we had the pleasure of attending The Mulberry Bush Ball in the Claridges Ball Room, an exquisite event raising money for The Mulberry Bush School, the most incredible school, working with severely traumatised primary aged children and their families from across England and Wales.
